Transportation-Inclement Weather

As the winter weather approaches, please review our transportation procedures so that you are prepared for any delays, early releases and/or cancellations due to inclement weather. You are encouraged to monitor local TV, radio, and websites for information regarding Hartford Public Schools AND your local district during storms.  You can call our Snow Line for updates (860-695-SNOW) for Hartford Public Schools.

Students will not receive transportation in the event of a school closure or when the student’s home district has cancelled school due to inclement weather.

For bus transportation changes due to delays, it is important for you to monitor ALL the towns served by your child’s bus (see chart below).  Your child’s bus will follow the schedule for the town with the longest delay. For example, if a student rides bus 641, you will need to monitor East Windsor’s and Enfield’s school district schedule and follow the longest delay. However, if one town is cancelled, but the other one is not, transportation will still run on schedule.

Should any town run an early release schedule during a normal school day, we will call each family to notify them and review dismissal procedures.

If Hartford Schools are open and your bus service has been interrupted, you may always elect to transport your child to/from school.  Students who are late or absent due to transportation, will be marked “excused.”  Please see the reference chart below for a summary.
